Hello, Gorgeous!

Happy 2013, Glowbeams!

I hope this year is filled with joy, health and positive change for you.

I’m sure by now you’ve read too many messages about making resolutions and starting over. I’m sure you’ve probably even committed to a resolution or two of your own. And I’m sure you can probably guess that weight loss is the #1 resolution Americans make every New Year’s Eve.

Hey I get it, you’re committed to losing 15 pounds by summer/the wedding/the vacation/the debut of that dress. But before you jump on the diet bandwagon, I’ve got some good news and some bad news.

First the bad news: Your diet won’t work.

Yep, I said it. But before you go hating on me, let me explain myself.

Restrictions, calorie counting, treat slashing, and embarrassing weigh-ins just don’t work in the long run. Why? Because our bodies aren’t bank accounts. And getting stuck on numbers and sizes only limits our minds and instills within us a sense of fear and lack.

What if I can’t keep the weight off?

What if I overeat and gain it all back?

What if I don’t have enough time to exercise?

What if I don’t make my goal?

When we govern ourselves in such a restricted way, it’s hard to let go of our fears… let alone excess weight.

So now here’s the good news. You can lose excess weight, gain optimal health and fulfill your body’s highest beauty potential without ever dieting again.

Once I committed to fulfilling my health and beauty potential, I myself lost twenty pounds of excess weight without counting calories or restricting myself one bit. In fact, I eat more food now than I ever have in my life. And I did this simply by focusing on the nutrition my body needed.

Don’t be a weight watcher. Don’t be a calorie counter, a food weigher, an over exerciser or an inch measurer. Become a radiant human being from the inside out. Beauty, weight loss and vibrant health start in your guts.

Remember when I said our bodies aren’t bank accounts? Well that’s because they’re actually more like chemistry labs. The food we put into our bodies creates a chemical reaction we call digestion. When our digestion is in working order, and vitamins and minerals are easily assimilated into our bodies, our other systems are free and clear to operate smoothly. This gives the body more time for beautifying and weight loss.

Here are several tips you can start implementing into your healthy lifestyle to free up your digestive system, making weight loss quick and easy:

1. Sleep. Beauty rest is no joke, people. When we’re off riding unicorns in Dreamland every night, our bodies are busy cleansing themselves, physically renewing, regulating hormones and growing. The longer you can give your body to complete this process, the better. At least 8 hours, okay?

2. Breakfast. The term literally means to break a fast. While you were sleeping, you gave your body a break from the exhausting digestive game. Now that you’re awake, ease into breaking your fast as slowly as possible. Start with a large glass of water to rehydrate and follow that with a warm cup of lemon water.

For extra oomph, I recommend adding Cayenne pepper to your lemon drink. It stimulates circulation and aids in further detox. Once you’re truly hungry, start your day with a green smoothie or green juice. This easy-into-the-morn breakfast will elongate the beautifying time your body got the night before.

3. Eating is sexy. Focus on adding stuff to your diet instead of cutting stuff out. Commit to trying a new vegetable or fruit every week, working them into your meals. When you’re filling up on the right foods, you won’t have room for the bad food anymore, and slowly but surely your cravings will disappear. I guarantee you’ll be hooked on the feeling of true, vibrant health and before you know it you’ll be shedding pounds left and right. Not to mention all the crazy, sexy benefits you’ll be receiving from eating fresh, raw produce. Glowing skin, luscious locks, tighter thighs… Ooh la la!

I do love the green smoothies. I’ve been reverting back to my vegan ways now that the holidays are over. If feels good to be back to the preholiday schedule. Beautiful.

Janet, I’m right there with you! I’m back to my vegan ways too and I hope to be more committed to that as the year goes on. I know now that I’m totally addicted to cheese (or casein- lol). But now that I am mindful of that, I’m hoping to break the cycle. Keep shining, Janet!
